Centre-back Harry Maguire paid tribute to Manchester United and England legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who sadly passed away this week, leading the team to honour the former player before securing a 1-0 victory over Copenhagen in the Champions League tonight.
He explained how the team felt, saying “It is a really sad day. For us boys, being sat in the hotel and hearing the news, it really hit us hard.”
Maguire praised Bobby Charlton in “To win what he’s won, and to be the way he is- it’s one thing to be an amazing footballer, but to be an amazing person and that’s what Sir Bobby was.”
With the former player having such an impact on football and a general influence, Harry adds “It will hit us so hard as a club and the people who knew him.”
“All our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
